where there were not enough physicians, nurses, or other health care professionals, you
would welcome an Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to serve your community. East Texas
AHEC links communities with health science schools to improve the health workforce of East
Texas.
We help young people and career-changing adults gain access to education
and become their community's health professionals.
We provide real-life community educational experiences for students.
We facilitate recruitment and retention support for providers.
We host community presentations to encourage healthy life styles.
We help communities adapt to healthcare system changes.
Along with a special interest in primary care, we have a priority for
underserved populations.
We are East Texas AHEC.
